Drip Tape Roll Coverage Calculator
Calculate crop-row count, total drip tape length and the number of complete rolls required from your field dimensions and layout.
Estimate Drip Tape Length and Roll Quantity
Enter dimensions for one rectangular irrigation block. Rows are assumed to run along the field length.
How the Drip Tape Estimate Is Calculated
Base length = rows × field length × lines per row
Order length = base length × (1 + allowance ÷ 100)
Rolls = round up (order length ÷ roll length)
Included
- Straight drip tape runs along crop rows
- One or more tapes per crop row
- User-selected material allowance
- Whole-roll purchasing quantity
Not included
- Headlands and irregular field boundaries
- Submains, supply hose and flush lines
- Connectors, valves, filters and regulators
- Hydraulic flow or pressure verification
Check the Field Layout and Supplier Roll Length
Confirm row direction
The calculator assumes every drip tape run follows the entered field length. Divide irregular fields into separate rectangular blocks.
Use the actual roll length
Roll lengths vary by tape specification and supplier. Enter the packaging length shown on the product quotation.
Check flow separately
Coverage does not prove that one zone can operate correctly. Verify emitter flow, lateral limits, pressure and filtration.
Extra joints increase labor and potential leak points. Decide whether remaining tape can be used efficiently before reducing the order.

How does the calculator determine the number of crop rows?
It divides field width by crop-row spacing and rounds up to the next whole row. Confirm the result against your actual edge offsets and planting plan.
What allowance should I enter?
The correct allowance depends on headlands, connections, trimming, field irregularity and installation practice. The default 5% is only a starting value.
Can I calculate two drip tapes per crop row?
Yes. Set “Drip lines per crop row” to 2. The calculator multiplies every row by two full-length tape runs.
Does this calculator size the irrigation zone flow?
No. It estimates tape quantity only. Zone flow requires emitter discharge, emitter spacing, operating pressure and the number of laterals operating together.
Can it calculate an irregular field?
Divide the field into practical rectangular blocks, calculate each block separately and add the order quantities. Review shared boundaries to avoid double counting.
