Coordinate Fertilizer Injection with Irrigation Flow
Build a compatible fertigation arrangement for crop rows, orchards or greenhouse production. TREX supplies Venturi injectors, filters, valves and fittings for integration into your irrigation system.

Match the System to the Crop Area
Coordinate Injection and Zone Flow
Review the number of active laterals and the operating window for each block. Injection settings should be checked whenever the hydraulic conditions change.
Account for Long Distribution Routes
Plan for the time required for solution to reach the outlets and for clean water to clear the lines. Confirm performance in representative parts of the block.
Check Delivery Across Production Zones
Different crop groups may require separate nutrient programs and operating schedules. Match the injection arrangement to the smallest and largest intended zone flows.
Is a Venturi Suitable for Your Irrigation System?
Use the Available Pressure Differential
A Venturi draws stock solution into the water stream when the hydraulic conditions generate suction. Check the manufacturer's operating curve against inlet pressure, outlet pressure and motive-water flow.
- Compare the required suction rate with the selected model's data.
- Include the effect of the injector or bypass on downstream pressure.
- Measure uptake under actual operating conditions.
Specify Dosing Requirements First
If the available differential is insufficient, flow varies widely, or the process needs tighter dosing control, have the designer compare alternative injection arrangements, such as suitable proportional or metering equipment.
Send the required control accuracy and operating range with your enquiry so the product scope can be confirmed.

Verify the Ratio Instead of Assuming It
A fixed Venturi setting does not guarantee a fixed dilution ratio if pressure, flow or suction conditions change. Confirm stock-solution uptake and irrigation flow during calibration.
Use your crop nutrient plan to define the required delivery. The injector is a delivery component, not a substitute for a fertilizer recommendation.

The table below groups the main functions. Final component order, protective devices and piping details depend on the water source, fertilizer and equipment specifications.
| Function | Products or provisions | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Fertilizer injection | Venturi injectors | Inlet and outlet pressure, motive flow, suction rate, stock-solution properties and material compatibility. |
| Filtration | Irrigation filters | Water quality, outlet requirements, chemical compatibility and any downstream filtration needed after injection. |
| Bypass and isolation | Ball valves and pipe fittings | Connection sizes, pressure rating, adjustment provision and access for service. |
| Zone control | Solenoid valves | Zone duty and control compatibility; coordinate injection shutdown with loss of irrigation flow. |
| Operating measurements | Pressure gauges and flowmeters | Instrument range and placement, plus a method to measure stock-solution uptake. |
| Crop delivery | Drip tape or drippers and emitters | Outlet uniformity, filtration needs and flushing arrangements. |
| Source and injection protection | Specified backflow, anti-siphon and injection shutoff provisions | Equipment instructions and requirements for the water source. An ordinary irrigation check valve alone is not a complete protection specification. |
Check the Water and Fertilizer Combination
Confirm solubility and compatibility using supplier guidance and water analysis. Do not assume that separately soluble products remain compatible when mixed as concentrates.
Filtration handles particles within its rating; it does not remove all dissolved constituents or prevent every precipitation problem. Provide cleaning access and flush points as part of the layout.

Verify Delivery Before Routine Fertigation
- 1. Establish irrigationFill the system with clean water and confirm stable zone operation.
- 2. Verify injectionMeasure uptake and flow using the equipment's calibration procedure.
- 3. Check deliveryConfirm the intended solution reaches representative outlets.
- 4. Clear the systemStop injection and use an appropriate clean-water flushing period.
Set injection and flushing durations around system travel time and the crop's irrigation requirement. Excessive flushing can move nutrients beyond the active root zone.
Send Flow and Pressure
Include operating flow for each zone, pressure at the proposed injection location, outlet pressure needs and existing equipment details.
Define the Required Duty
Provide the fertilizer product, stock-solution information, target injection rate or ratio, and the proposed control method.
Share the Layout
Send a sketch, pipe sizes, connection standards, water-quality information, required quantities and delivery destination.

Does a Venturi injector maintain a fixed injection ratio?
Not automatically. Suction depends on operating conditions including pressure differential and motive-water flow. Measure uptake and irrigation flow, and recheck when the operating zone or settings change.
Can I choose an injector using pipe connection size alone?
No. Match the operating curve to available pressure, motive flow and the required injection rate. Connection size is only one part of the specification.
Can any water-soluble fertilizers be mixed together?
No. Check supplier compatibility guidance and source-water chemistry. Some combinations can precipitate, especially in concentrated stock solutions.
Is a standard check valve enough to protect the water source?
Do not assume it is. The full protection arrangement depends on the water source, installation requirements and equipment instructions, including appropriate backflow and injection-line protection.
How long should I inject and flush?
Use the nutrient plan, system flow and travel time to establish durations. Allow solution to reach the intended outlets and clear the lines afterward without exceeding the planned irrigation amount.
