Match Irrigation to Every Growing Stage
Select irrigation components for greenhouse crop rows, container plants and propagation benches. TREX supplies drippers, micro sprinklers, foggers, filters and valves to help you build a coordinated growing-area system.

Different Crops Need Different Water Delivery
Separate Unlike Watering Needs
Group plants by container size, growing medium and development stage. Seedlings, rooted cuttings and mature crops may need different watering schedules.
Reach Every Pot or Tray
Account for bench width, pot spacing and canopy obstructions. Check delivery at representative locations, including the ends of laterals.
Protect Small Outlets
Review the source water and planned fertilizer use before selecting filtration. Deposits and blocked outlets can disrupt delivery even when the supply pressure appears normal.
Drip, Micro Sprinklers or Propagation Mist?
Choose equipment for the task it needs to perform. Root-zone watering, overhead irrigation and humidity management require different operating plans.
Drip Irrigation
Deliver water to individual containers or along planted rows. Select emitter discharge and placement around the growing medium and pot or crop spacing.
- Useful where direct delivery to the medium is preferred.
- Check actual outlet flow at the intended pressure.
Micro Sprinkler Irrigation
Provide overhead coverage where the crop and layout suit it. Match spacing, mounting height and discharge to the required distribution pattern.
- Check interception by foliage and nearby structures.
- Allow for water falling between containers.
Mist & Fog Equipment
Review nozzles and controls for short, repeatable applications. Select equipment by documented droplet and pressure performance, with anti-drip provisions where needed.
- Confirm minimum pulse duration and valve response.
- Adapt operation as cuttings develop roots.

Separate Propagation Mist from Root-Zone Irrigation
A propagation mist cycle is intended to support cutting hydration. Check growing-medium moisture separately; a wet canopy does not establish whether the root zone has enough water.
Mist and fine fog also differ in droplet behavior. A product described as a fogger should be checked against its specifications before selecting it for humidity control or evaporative cooling.
Coordinate Outlets, Filtration and Zone Controls
Start with the required outlet performance, then confirm the supply and control components. Product choices should suit both normal irrigation and the shortest planned operating cycle.
| Function | Products to review | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Root-zone delivery | Drippers / emitters and drip tubing | Outlet flow, operating pressure, container layout and connection dimensions. |
| Overhead application | Micro sprinklers and foggers | Coverage, droplet characteristics, mounting height and shutoff behavior. |
| Water filtration | Irrigation filters | Source water, required filtration grade, zone flow and cleaning access. |
| Zone switching | Solenoid valves and mini valves | Controller compatibility, pressure range, flow requirements and response time. |
| Distribution connections | Drip line fittings and irrigation fittings | Tube dimensions, pressure rating and joint compatibility. |
| Fertigation option | Venturi injectors | Available pressure differential, injection rate, chemical compatibility and source protection. |
| Operating checks | Pressure gauges and flowmeters | Appropriate measuring range and installation requirements for the expected flow. |
Plan Fertigation Around Measured Delivery
Where fertilizer is injected, confirm the dosing equipment across the intended operating flow range. A Venturi depends on a pressure differential; it does not maintain a fixed injection ratio under every operating condition.
Use crop-appropriate nutrient targets and check the delivered solution. Include suitable backflow protection and accessible flushing points in the design.

From Bench Layout to Product Selection
Share the Layout
Provide greenhouse dimensions, bench or row lengths, pot or tray spacing, growing medium and crop stages. Mark propagation areas and separate production blocks.
Describe Water and Control
Send measured supply flow and pressure, water-quality information and existing controller details. For misting, include the intended pulse timing and mounting height.
Trial the Configuration
Confirm outlet delivery or spray distribution in one representative area before extending the layout. Review the product list, connections and spare parts with TREX.
For nursery irrigation: Include drainage and runoff handling in the project plan. If water will be recirculated, assess water quality and sanitation requirements for the reuse system.

Which irrigation method should I use for container plants?
Choose around pot spacing, growing medium, crop stage and required coverage. Drip can deliver directly to individual containers, while overhead methods may suit closely arranged crops. Trial the layout before specifying the whole area.
Can propagation mist replace normal irrigation?
Do not assume it can. Propagation mist supports cutting hydration, while growing-medium moisture needs its own assessment. Check both canopy conditions and the medium as rooting progresses.
Does a fogger automatically provide greenhouse cooling?
No. Cooling performance depends on droplet size, pressure, ventilation, temperature and humidity. Check the nozzle specifications and the environmental design rather than relying on the product name.
Can I use the same schedule for every bench?
Different crops, pot sizes and media can dry at different rates. Separate unlike groups into zones and adjust irrigation using observed crop and medium conditions.
What information is needed for a quotation?
Send the facility layout, crops, pot or tray dimensions, spacing, water supply measurements, water-quality information and preferred control method. Include product quantities and delivery destination if already known.
